Still good. Fired up the engine and the glow plug light stayed on (wire from glow plug relay to glow plugs still unplugged). I then used it to move some dirt for 30 minutes and the glow plug light stayed on the entire time. Parked it, killed the engine, and tried the switch again and found the glow plug light still stayed on.
2008 Silverado 5.3 L I was driving and the oil pressure gauge went to zero, check engine light on, I changed the oil pressure sensor, and had good pressure. the check engine light was still on. I removed a cable from the battery for about 5 minutes, hooked it all back up and all is good.

Jul 01, 2018 · Bumping old thread. Can you live without working glow plugs in places where ambient temperature never really goes low like South Indian cities. My friend's Punto ( 75 HP MJD ) has the "check glow plugs" light on. He is wondering if he can live with it since the minimum temperature where he drives around never goes below 14 degrees.

Mar 18, 2020 · Code P0405 still shows up when scanned but no check engine light. It does not seem to derate. There is a check engine light for a glow plug so I'm sure when the customer scans for the light they will still see a EGR code. I know, fix the glow plug so light goes away and problem solved.
Once the glow plugs have heated up, the light will extinguish. Ideally, the engine should only be started once this light has gone out to provide their maximum effect. Some newer cars, especially this with automatic stop/start systems have special glow plugs with pressure sensors in them.
